Chernobyl is unique. There is no other abandoned place where people had to leave everything behind. You enter the school, kindergarten, homes of people and everything is still there. It’s illegal to take things away because they might be radioactive.

The exclusion zone is a 30-kilometer radius. Only since 2010, it’s possible to visit Chernobyl. Pripyat was the biggest city in that area. It was built for the works of the power plant and equipped with things like a public pool and a theme park. The theme park was supposed to be opened in May 1986 only a few days after the worst nuclear disaster in history.

There were 40.000 people living in Pripyat when the catastrophe happened and their belongings are still there.
