This isn’t a personality trait. It’s a corrective
I don’t work this way because I’m disciplined or relentless. I work this way because I’ve seen what happens when I don’t. Things stall. Ideas rot. Projects stay half-alive for months and quietly lose relevance. This rule exists because drift is my natural enemy.
What “Working” Actually Means
For me, work only counts if something changes in the real world.
A page exists that didn’t exist before.
A system is slightly more complete.
A decision is reflected in structure, not just in my head.
Thinking, reading, planning, comparing tools, all of that can be useful. But if it doesn’t end in something tangible, it doesn’t qualify as a work session. It’s preparation at best. Avoidance at worst.
I’ve done enough of both to know the difference.
Why Small Results Matter More Than Big Plans
I don’t trust long timelines anymore.
Any plan that requires months of “setup” before something visible appears is fragile. Too many things can interfere. Mood changes. Priorities shift. Energy drops.
Small results are harder to lie to. They either exist or they don’t.
That’s why I bias toward the smallest possible output, produced immediately, inside the platforms that already exist. Not because it’s elegant. Because it survives contact with reality.
Decisions Don’t Improve With Time
I don’t believe most decisions get better if I sit on them.
They usually get heavier. More emotional. More abstract.
If something is clear enough to act on, I act. Not because I’m certain, but because execution produces better information than thinking does. Once something is built, even roughly, it can be judged properly.
Reversing a real decision is easier than rescuing a stalled one.
The Travel Comparison Isn’t About Bravery
When I plan a trip, I buy the ticket.
Not because I’m bold. Because otherwise I’ll keep re-evaluating the same idea until it dissolves. Buying the ticket forces the rest of the process to align. The doubts don’t disappear, but they lose authority.
Work behaves the same way.
An irreversible action anchors intention. Without that anchor, everything stays theoretical.
This Is Not How I Always Work
I don’t want this to sound heroic. It isn’t.
I procrastinate. I avoid things. I overthink. I sometimes spend days circling something I already know the answer to. This rule doesn’t describe my personality. It describes the system I use to counter my weaknesses.
When action isn’t on, I notice the effects fast. Less clarity. More mental noise. More second-guessing. That’s usually my signal that I’ve slipped back into abstraction.
Speed Is a Tool, Not an Identity
I’m not interested in speed for its own sake.
Speed matters because it prevents certain problems from forming. It limits overattachment. It reduces self-importance. It keeps the work grounded.
Slow work isn’t bad. Unanchored work is.
Why This Needed to Be Written Down
This is here as a reference point.
Not a rule to impress anyone. Not a standard I always meet. It’s a reminder of what actually works for me when things move forward instead of sideways.
Action doesn’t need to be dramatic.
It just needs to happen.
And when it does, the rest tends to fall quiet.
